Advantages of Pipes
1.Corrosion and Scaling Resistance
Polyethylene resists the erosion of various chemical media. It is free from electrochemical corrosion and does not require an anti-corrosion coating. In addition, the smooth and light-proof inner wall of the pipe is not prone to the growth of algae or fungi, which could cause pipe blockages.
2.High Flexibility
Polyethylene pipes are highly flexible, with an elongation at break generally exceeding 500%. They are suitable for installation on unstable ground (collapsible soil) or seabeds; they can also be used for trenchless pipe installation and as liners for the rehabilitation of old pipelines. Welding can also be completed on the ground before placing the pipes into narrow trenches for laying.
3.Resistance to Rapid Crack Propagation and Slow Crack Growth
Among common plastic pipes, polyethylene has strong resistance to rapid crack propagation; at the same time, it also has resistance to slow crack growth.
4.Outstanding Low-temperature Toughness
PE has excellent low-temperature toughness, with a low-temperature embrittlement temperature as low as -70°C, which is superior to other polyolefin pipes. In accordance with standard requirements, safe outdoor construction can be carried out in low-temperature winter conditions, and the pipes can be safely used in low-temperature environments ranging from -20°C to 40°C.
5.UV and Aging Resistance
Special materials for PE pipes contain 2%~2.5% evenly dispersed carbon black (0.02 microns), which can effectively prevent the damage of ultraviolet rays to the pipes. In addition, light stabilizers and antioxidants are also added during the production of polyethylene, all of which ensure the service life of PE pipes.
6.Safe and Reliable Welding Performance
Polyethylene pipes are mainly connected by fusion welding (heat fusion or electric fusion), ensuring the consistency of the material and structure of the joints with the pipe body itself, achieving the integration of the joints and the pipes. The tensile strength and burst strength of the joints are higher than those of the pipe body, which can effectively resist the circumferential stress and axial tensile stress generated by internal pressure.
7.Good Construction Performance
The pipes are lightweight: PE material of the same volume is only 1/8 the weight of steel. In many cases, they can be completely handled manually without special lifting equipment; moreover, the welding process is simple, construction is convenient, and the overall project cost is low.
8.Long Service Life of Polyethylene Pipes
Under the conditions of scientific design, standardized construction and correct use, the service life of polyethylene pipes can exceed 50 years.
